St.Kilda

When out in the Outer Hebrides from the 5th to the 22nd of June 2019, we just had to make an attempt to arrange a day trip to St.Kilda. For starters it didn’t look good, since we only managed to be on stand-by for Tuesday the 11th of June. Then everything changed in a flash when we received a text message inviting us to put our names forward for a impromptu addition on Sunday the 9th of June. We jumped at the occasion, and the results in terms of birds encountered are shown below.

At first we landed on Hirta, the main island of the archipelago, where we stayed for about 4 hours, giving us the opportunity to explore the gap up to the cliffs, and the area around the Village and Village Bay. Back in the boat we then made a detour to Boreray and its adjacent stacks Stac Lee and Stac an Armin via Dun.
