Roath park occupies a long strip of land stretching from Cyncoed in the north to Roath towards the southeast, of which Roath Park Lake occupies slightly more than half of the area, more or less in the middle portion along the north-south axis of the park.
A recent personal visit to the lake (on 30 October 2018) more or less confirms a count performed by Glamorgan Birds as part of the Roath Park Lake WeBS in October 2016.
