Clearly, the Nature article is not the last word on bird phylogeny. The following Science article “Whole-genome analyses resolve early branches in the tree of life of modern birds” shows a different picture. Not altogether too different, but sufficiently so to make it clear that the last word on bird phylogeny is not quite there yet.
